15.07.2005 About a meeting of the Director of the EC RATS SCO with the chief of UNODC Anti-Trafficking Section in Vienna
On July 15, 2005, the Director of the EC RATS SCO, V.Kasymov, met with the chief of UNODC Anti-Trafficking Section in Vienna, Bryan Taylor. During this meeting he informed his colleague about an activity of the Executive Committee of the RATS SCO and work done for period of its functioning.
International community considers illegal drug trafficking as one of sources of financing international terrorism. Problems of struggling against drug addiction and drug business especially aggravated last years are many-sided and connected with set of factors. The basic source of negative tendencies as consequence - constantly growing narcotization of societies is still remaining the Islamic State of Afghanistan. Considering importance of the problem the sides exchanged opinions about cooperation of the EC RATS SCO with UNODC and Central Asian Regional information Center (CARIC) which will be set in near future in this field.
During discussing the issue of CARIC V.Kasymov suggested some recommendations upon its creation and forming the stuff.
CARIC – the Center considering development of an effective trans-boundary cooperation among the Low enforcement bodies of states of the region in fighting against illegal circulation of drugs, coordination of their joint efforts in this sphere as well as formation of essential database on the persons involved in illegal drug circulation.
