27.09.2006 About participation of the representatives of the EC RATS SCO in the international conference
The problem of providing security in Central Asia and Afghanistan is still under steadfast attention of experts specialized in this dimension. First of all, it is caused by destabilization of situation in the specified region that can entail serious consequences for the whole world community. So, the issues of assessment of challenges and threats, conflicts’ potentials, terrorism interaction with the organized crime, as well as the account of factors influenced on stability need the constant study, analysis and control.
With this aim, particularly, on November 22-23, 2004, the international conference on the theme: «Preventing the regional conflicts and promoting stability in Central Asia and Afghanistan» was held in Tashkent, organized by the Royal Institute of International Relations (Great Britain), the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (Uzbekistan) and the Center of Political Research in Uzbekistan. Known experts from Afghanistan, Great Britain, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the USA, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan, also the representatives of NATO and the Executive Committee of the RATS SCO attended in its work.
In his speech the Director of the Executive Committee of the RATS SCO dwelt on the assessment of current challenges and threats, their tendency and prognosis of situation development in Central Asia and Afghanistan. Special interest from the side of participants of the conference was attracted to the role of the RATS SCO in assisting security, prevention of conflicts and promoting stability in the region.
Overall, the conference came to conclusion that the guarantor of a safety and stability in Central Asia and Afghanistan was a cooperation, which needed to be improved with the aim of standing against possible future challenges.
